J&B Met 2016

On Friday morning, the plan was to leave for Canal Walk early so that I could be there as the doors opened. A few distractions and a second cup of coffee later, I still didn’t too badly and arrived just as it started filling up.

The theme this year is Rare Blend. I’ve been trying to figure out how people will interpret that. I can imagine different prints, different colours, feathers and sequins. Who knows?
I headed off to River Island and the lovely ladies helped me pull out a few options.

Off we went to the change room…

What I was wearing: Blue t-shirt from Cotton On, Boyfriend jeans from H&M, Adidas Superstars, Persol fold up wayfarers and Michael Kors Tote
I Snapchatted the experience asking for your help and you guys were so amazing! Thank you.
I first tried on this little red number:
Option 2 was this yellow dress and I really liked it a lot. My only problem was that it had these cut out sides (not photographed) and you could see my bra sticking through, which wasn’t ideal.
Option 3 was this blue and silver maxi dress…
Option 4 was this black dress with a slit and a tuxedo style top.

You guys are so awesome and according to the Snaps, it was a toss up between Option 2, the yellow dress and option 4, the black dress.

I decided on option 4, the black dress, as it’s more versatile. I love that it has a Tuxedo look to it, and that was my sophisticated take on the Rare Blend theme… a Tuxedo dress.
I found the most incredible black and orange heels and clutch to match for a pop of colour. I did look at the heels and think about the grass, but I knew they would just make the dress. No pain; no gain!
In the mens department I got a black bow tie, that I thought I’d add for the day!

I headed to Fox Box to get a mani and chose the Tiger Blossom orangey red gel.

On the morning of the J&B Met, I curled my hair using the Glam Palm Wand and got dressed. As soon as I put the bow tie on I just knew it didn’t look as good as I had imagined it would. With my blonde curls and the bowtie, it just made me look a little Playboy Bunny-ish  and not the sophisticated look I was going for.

Sox and I arrived in time for his DJ set on the main stage.

I spent most of my time in the VIP tent, in the shade. There was a bit of a breeze, which was wonderful relief from the 33 degrees.
I got to catch up with some good friends…

A few TV interviews and press photos later…

We couldn’t stay the full time, and even though I didn’t do any betting on the horses this year, we still had so much fun! Well done to the organisers and thank you so much for having me!
