George’s 2nd Birthday

I remember people telling me to treasure every moment because it all goes by so fast. Every single cliche is true. It honestly feels like a few months ago that I was giving birth to George, and here we are 2 years later with the sweetest, strong-willed yet sensitive little boy who puts me in awe of him every day.

George is obsessed with the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. The way he says: “Oh Toodles” makes Sox and I melt. He always says the ‘cheers’ part of this phrase “We’ve got ears, say cheers” so enthusiastically.

He also happens to know every character and each time will say: “Mama, Daisy!” or “Mama, Donald!” and then I have to acknowledge that he got the characters right. He always does.

It was a no-brainer on what the theme of his party would be. Ironically, the week before his birthday and party, the Paw Patrol train hit… but Mickey is still right up there.

We had it on his actual birthday – the 15th of June at the Greek Club in Mouille Point. We hired Soft Play and a Toddler Rollercoaster – always a hit!

My Dad flew down for the weekend – sadly my Mom wasn’t able to come too, but my Dad brought a whole bunch of Mickey Mouse decor like bunting, table cloths, cups, serviettes and even plates.

A good friend Natalie had a Mickey Party for her son a few years prior and actually had some extra decor – like signs that said: “Come inside it’s fun inside” and even a life size Mickey Mouse air walker balloon. Nats – thank you!

We got extra red and white polka dot and black and white polka dot balloons.

We got platters of Greek food and ice buckets of beer and wine for the adults, and a table of snacks and treats for the kiddies.

The week before his birthday, we practiced blowing out birthday candles. When we arrived at his party, George immediately went: “Mickey!!!!” in pure excitement and then, “Cake and sing!”

He wanted to do it straight away, but he soon got distracted by the soft play.

Eventually we came to cut the cake, which was absolutely delicious!

George was in his element and loved the singing so much. He blew out his candle like a champion and then did the baby sign language for “more” and said: “More!” It was so cute, so we lit the candle again so he could blow it out! Watch the video here:

As a little thank you for coming to G’s party, we had Mickey Mouse cookies!

Oh George, may you grow to be strong and kind and wise! You are so loved! Excited to think that next birthday, your baby brother will be there too!
