The Mercedes Benz Bokeh Fashion Film Festival in Johannesburg 2015

On Wednesday morning I flew up to Johannesburg ahead of the Mercedes Benz Bokeh Fashion Film Festival in Johannesburg.

Jarrod, the marketing manager of Spero Villioti arrived at the venue and took me through to Spero Villioti in Hyde Park.

I was welcomed with a pot of tea and waited for Spero himself to help me choose a dress perfect for the red carpet and to MC the event.

I tried on 2 and the second one was the winner. It is certainly something I’ve never ever worn before and completely different, but I felt very Hollywood glam in it.

Here is an up close shot of the coiled material over sheer fabric that hides the… ahem… necessary areas.

I headed back to the venue in an Uber cab and waited for the dress rehearsal, ensuring that everything was slickly run for Thursday evening.

On Thursday the 4th of June, I arrived at the Mercedes Benz East Rand dealership where the whole place had been transformed into a glamourous fashion film event. The red carpet was rolled out, HiSense UHD screens were strategically placed so that no one would miss the best fashion films. The fashion installations were set up showcasing 3 of the best designers: Gert Johan Coetzee, Hendrik Vermeulen Couture and Spero Villioti.

I had my make-up done thanks to MAC Cosmetics and my hair done thanks to ghd. They’re always a winning combo when it comes to being red carpet and camera ready.

Stephanie Scorgie arrived – she was helping me with the Social Media for Bokeh that my company BS MEDIA looks after. I couldn’t be in 3 places at once, so I’m very grateful to Steph for being such a star!

After hair and make-up was done, I changed very carefully into my dress and headed to the red carpet waiting for the guests to arrive, where I would be hosting the red carpet.

I’m not going to lie… it was bloody freezing and I felt like an ice cube with eyes, but it’s all worth it when you get to wear a R65 000 dress.

Graeme Watkins took a break from the recording studio…

The winners of the US $10 000 Mercedes Benz Award arrived too – the lovely director/producer/actor/actress couple: Aidan Whytock and Lee-Anne Summers.

Artist Catherine Timotei had her original artworks on display too…

Francois Louw…

Mr. Selvin Govender of Mercedes Benz, Bryan Ramkilawan of Cape Town Fashion Council, Gert Johan Coetzee and Melinda Shaw

The Foxy Ladies and I couldn’t stop laughing on the red carpet!

The real supermodels of the night were of course the Mercedes Benz Cars on display…

Once the red carpet was done and everyone was inside, I got myself ready to begin the nights proceedings…

The Managing Director of Bokeh – Adrian Lazarus…

Once the fashion films were watched, the Foxy Ladies began singing Doo-Wop songs and I narrated a story between fashion and cars… Each Mercedes Benz then came driving out escorted by the Sunglass Hut Bokeh Air hostesses.

Dr. Evil even arrived in one of the cars and sat with his cat… It was brilliant!

It was absolutely amazing to be a part of this again and I cannot wait for next year!
