London Day 4

Being reunited with my sister meant clothes sharing and hair braiding! I loved it. The day before, Tandi French plaited my hair, which I slept in (hence the messiness in the photos below) and on Monday morning, before she went to work, I did a rolled fishtail braid for her.

While Ross and Tandi worked, Sox and I set off to explore more of what London had to offer.

We went to Chelsea and took in some of the street art…chelsea-art-copychelsea-chanel-art-copystreet-art-in-chelsea-copy

We walked along Kings Road, went down to the Thames…bailey-chelsea-copybailey-schneider-in-chelsea-copychelsea-bridge-copychelsea-love-doors-copy

We did some looking/shopping at the shops. I found the Freddy jean store in Chelsea 🙂freddy-jeans-in-chelsea-copy

Sox found Sunglass Hut…sunglass-hut-copy

If I am the biggest tea lover; Sox is the biggest coffee lover. He’s a self confessed coffee snob too. We were struggling to find a place for coffee, until we came across the most unassuming shop – Cafe De La Paix. It actually served delicious coffee.coffee-copycafe-la-paix-coffee-copychelsea-flowers-copyflowers-in-chelsea-copyflowers-in-chelsea-1-copy

We found a small park where we rested our feet for a little bit, before heading over to Harrods.park-life-copy

Harrods is quite the experience. I briefly remember the toy floor from 24 years ago, but this was pretty amazing. Every brand you can imagine (330 departments) all on 7 floors. Careful… you can spend days in there!harrods-3-copyharrods-2-copyharrods-copychristian-louboutin-copy

Sox bought me the Christian Louboutin nail polish – the famous red that matches the red sole shoes. It also doubles up as a “weapon” and I had to ensure it was packed safely in my luggage.

After our various shopping and saying good bye to my lego friends; we were pretty hungry and decided to enjoy a typical pub lunch. harrods-bailey-schneider-copy

We walked into Paxton’s Head and indulged in a typical British pub lunch…paxtons-head-pub-lunch-copypub-lunch-paxtons-2-copy

Sox had the pie, gravy and sweet potato chips…pie-and-gravy-copy

Utterly stuffed, we headed back to the tubes to catch the Northern Line and head to Clapham Common to visit our friend, Rhodri.clapham-common-tube-copy

I loved Clapham Common – the parks, the streets with their shops, restaurants, pubs… It was awesome.clapham-common-copyWe visited Rhodri at his apartment, where I ate all his British raspberries – sorry R – I owe you! Oh and I mention that they’re British raspberries, because the Brits are very good at labelling where fruits and vegetables come from. If they’re British, there are large stickers proudly acknowledging that.

After a visit, we headed along Northcote road…

Oh and the secret sock struggle is real. When you walk as much as Sox and I have, the damn socks have a way of slipping down and bunching up making it really uncomfortable.sore-feet-2-copysore-feet-copyclapham

I found this sign hilarious… One day I’ll grow up. Just not today.funny-sign-in-clapham-common-copy

We headed back into town to meet up with my sister at her work. She works in the Orange building…tandis-office-copyTandi had told Sox about another coffee shop we should try, Fernandez & Wells. According to a guy she works with, he rates the coffee, so we got a take away cup to try as we walked around.fernandez-and-wells-copyinside-fernandez-and-wills-copysox-at-fernandez-and-wells-copy

Ross met up with us after work for some shopping along Oxford road and dinner with friends at Picadilly Circus…

I gave Sox and Ross my camera to hold while Tandi and I shopped. When I looked at my photos later at home, this is what I found… bil-1-copybil-2-copySelfies in store.jpgtgif-fridays-copyoxford-street-2oxford-street

We met up for dinner with Gareth, Dan and Beth at the Grace Bar & Restaurant.Grace Bar and Restaurant.jpgdinnertandi-and-her-dessertdinner-at-picadilly-circus-copymm-store-copypicadilly-circus-by-night-copy

After an excellent day and night, and clearly a day of lots of walking, we crashed a little after midnight…fitbit

Tomorrow is the final day of London and then we’ll head over to Switzerland. Please let me know if you want a little break from the travel posts or if I should carry on… I share these because I love it, but also because it becomes a travel diary that I’ll always have – logged forever here on my little space online.

Please don’t stop. Am loving them. I loved London but that was many years ago. To see how it has changed so much. Its awesome. Never been to Switzerland so am really waiting for the picture postcard look that I think they have.

Thanks Jayne! I’m still going through the Swiss photos and I think they look photoshopped even though I haven’t touched them – you’ll see what I mean soon 😉

Loving the travel diary, please dont stop 🙂 Its so nice to read about your London adventures and to see London from a tourist perspective again…living here makes you not appreciate the magic of the city as much…although I still love London, the vibe is one of my favourite things, but you know, it all becomes normal after a while. 🙂

I dont know if you tried Monmouth coffee while you were here (there is a cafe just outside of Borough Market and some independent cafes sell the coffee too), but it is AMAZING…some of the best coffee I have had here (also an admitted coffee snob you see). If I had know, I would have recommended it before you came over.

Thanks again for the posts, loving em!

Aw Nicole – I’m so glad to hear this – it’s such a compliment! When I see tourists exploring CT, I sometimes think they do more than I do and I live here! Haha! I think it’s only natural to take our own space for granted – but a lovely reminder not to. We didn’t try that coffee shop, but will put it on our list for next time! Thanks for reading – really means a lot x

My first solo overseas trip ever, was to London in 2009. I was petrified of travelling there alone but had the most amazing time. I literally fell in love with London. I spoiled my sister with a trip to London last year and she loved it too. I am still looking forward to your photo’s of New York. Have to agree with all the other comments – love your photos – and love, love, love your travel blogs. Please don’t stop – we want more :).

Sorry – was typing too fast there. I meant to type “I was so looking forward to the New York photo’s” as I have never been there. New York is on my travel bucket list. Hopefully I’ll make it there someday – and you too 🙂

LOVE reading your London adventures my friend – so much to do in so little time and you managed to do so much!! I drool over traditional pub lunches – pie and gravy and a Sunday roast are my best! And as for Harrods – we took our girls to the Disney restaurant there – so much fun (but not cheap!) x
