Happy Mothers Day

It was Mothers Day yesterday… I stayed over at my parents the night before and early in the morning, I made tea and then my sister and I jumped onto the bed with the wrapped gifts. It doesn’t matter how old I get, this will always be a tradition that makes me really happy. I felt like I was 5 years old again.

I’d like to think that the meals I make are a little better than they were when I was 5. We’ve gone from carrying a tray of scrambled eggs and slightly burnt toast with sloshed orange juice (couldn’t quite carry the heavy tray properly at 5) to preparing a delicious roast lunch today.

My sister and I kicked my mom out of her own kitchen and we did roast pork with sweet potatoes, apples and vegetables. For dessert we poached pears and teamed them with vanilla frozen yoghurt and berries. I didn’t have any of the dessert (I have my final USN Photo shoot today), but it smelled and looked amazing.

Even Duke got involved… Although I don’t think he was trying to help, he was hoping we’d drop food.

You see? Duke – forever hopeful.
