As you know, I’ve been introduced to the NutriBullet and it’s one of my favourite kitchen appliances. It’s so easy to mill ingredients and it whips up juices, smoothies, milkshakes and dips in 30 seconds. The best part? It’s super easy to clean. The only reason my juicer was so off putting and sat in the cupboard, is because the cleaning of all the pulp was always such a nightmare.
The NutriBullet extracts all fresh ingredients’ goodness into it’s most nutritious, absorptive state, turning our food into superfood. Juicing can remove the fibres and blending can leave behind chunks… this is just so much better. This little bullet is so powerful it busts open seeds, cracks through stems, and shreds tough skin.
It comes with an extractor blade and a milling blade, 1 tall cup and lid and 2 short cups and lids, a recipe book in case you need some inspiration.
I’ve shared my Coco Berry Bullet and my Green juice with you (under the recipe section on my blog), but today, I wanted to share one of my favourite milkshakes that takes me back to my childhood. It’s called the Happiness Milkshake because the combo of cocoa and banana is an excellent antidepressant. See more under benefits.
It’s such a simple recipe, but it’s oh so good.
Ingredients:
Bananas (fresh or frozen)
1 tablespoon of Cocoa
Milk
Xylitol (if you even need any – depends on how sweet you want the milkshake.)
Benefits:
Cocoa is a great antidepressant. It also has powerful antioxidants known as polyphenols. It helps reduce cholesterol, lowers blood pressure, reduces the risk of blood clots and is high in Magnesium and Potassium. Just remember, this is cocoa, so don’t be reaching for those sugary chocolate bars too eagerly.
Bananas help overcome depression due to their high levels of Vitamin B6 and tryptopham, which is converted into serotonin – the happy mood brain neurotransmitter. Bananas also help with muscular cramps and if you have PMS. They are high in Potassium. They are a natural antacid providing relief from acid reflux. They are also great for tummy problems as they sooth the digestive tract and help restore electrolytes.
I remember mom saying: “Drink your Milk for strong bones!” and it’s true, but calcium and protein aren’t the only nutrients in milk. Say hello to vitamins D, A, B2 and B12, phosphorous and electrolytes.
Pop your ingredients all together and always make sure your ingredients don’t surpass the Maximum Line of the NutriBullet.
Blend and drink it right out of the cup or pour it into glasses and share. It’s your choice.
I mentioned how easy it is to clean… It’s as simple as running the blade under water and wiping it down with a soapy cloth and another rinse.
