Sugar Free September and a Weekend in Pictures

Happy Spring!! Wow guys, it’s the 1st of September, can you believe it?

Joburg has skipped Spring and gone straight into Summer. I am so jealous!

Here in Cape Town, we are still very much in Winter, but I will say it’s definitely looking a little brighter than usual and the flowers are out, so I’m happy.

Today is also the start of Sugar Free September! I’m so excited to be a part of this and to be a mentor. Karen Thomson and Emily Maguire have written an e-book that is full of recipes, tips and help on how to go sugar free and claim your health back! The course is 100% free and I’ll be doing Periscope videos via Twitter and other online support too. Sign up now: www.thesugarfreerevolution.com

I really love capturing moments. It is very rare that I won’t have a camera in my bag and I’m not just talking about my iPhone.

I must be honest though, the iPhone camera is really good, but it’s made me lazy. I’ve missed capturing moments with my DSLR.

Last week, I spoiled myself with an upgrade… I bought the Canon 70D and 18-135mm lens from Photographic Repairs, here in Cape Town and I’ve been playing with it all weekend long.

Boy I’ve missed my photography!

On Saturday morning, we had a lazy morning of being wrapped up in our warm duvet, drinking tea (for me) and coffee (for him) and eventually deciding to get out of pjs and head off to the Oranjezicht Market, at The Lookout.

We met up with our good friends, Marc and Kim and Sox’s 13 month old Goddaughter, Sloane.

My heart just melts when I see Sox and Sloane together – they are adorable! Be still, ovaries! 😛

Banting Breakfast – scrambled eggs done in coconut oil, tomatoes, cheese, crispy bacon & home made pesto . YUM

Sox and Sloane shared a babyccino…

This is one of my favourite pics of the whole weekend… I zoomed in to capture their hug.

I love the organic section of the market and bought fresh kale, sweet potatoes and fresh rocket.

We all headed home for a lazy afternoon nap, before meeting for an early dinner at Tasha’s.

Sox stopped on the side of the road so that I could capture the magnificent sunset. It just got better and better and these photos are absolutely unedited.

As we arrived at the V&A Waterfront, we saw the full moon – it’s a bit blurry because I shot it out the car window. What a spectacular night.

Sox and I discovered this dish on the menu – it’s called the Aubergine, Mince and Yoghurt crunch. I’m weirdly allergic to aubergine, so I replace it with zucchini. It’s mince, tahini yogurt, pine nuts and a few pomegranate seeds.

I personally would never have thought of that combination, but the flavours are so good together.

So good, in fact, that we went back on Sunday for the same lunch. Can’t get enough!
