I’m definitely a Summer baby. I always feel so much better in Summer than in Winter – I definitely feel more alive and vibrant.
Perhaps it’s the Vitamin D and sunshine on my skin, the air that feels fresher, the summer fruits, the promise of salty beach days, the longer days…
Get excited for October, because La Roche-Posay has come out with the first connected UV patch that educates you on how to play safe in the sun.
What is it?
It’s the first connected device to an app that measures UV exposure. This device is like a second skin – it has flexible technology, it’s ultra thin and transparent, it’s adhesive and lasts up to 5 days, highly water resistant and suitable for sensitive skin and children.
It’s made of square photosensitive dyes that change colours when exposed to UV.
What information do you get?
It gives accurate data about the UV index you’re exposed to, the risk level depending on your sun behavior, variations in daily sun exposure and personalized sunscreen recommendations.
I know the different SPFs give you an indication of when you should be reapplying your suntan lotion, but let’s be honest… it’s not like we have a timer on beeping when we should reapply lotion… I particularly love that this UV patch shows me, so that I’m protected 100% of the time and have a greater chance of not getting sun burnt.
Not many people know this:
In 2007 I was diagnosed with Superficial Spreading Melanoma on my right elbow. It was a pretty scary moment in my life and I’m very grateful we caught it early. I had it cut out of my arm, had umpteen tests and scans to ensure the cancer hadn’t spread further and I’ve been free of it ever since. I’m not a very moley person, but I do check myself all the time and I’m particularly careful in the sun. A patch like this just elevates my sun safety now.
How do I use it?
- Download the My UV Patch app from the Apple store or Android Google Play store.
- Create a profile.
- Apply your patch on any sun exposed area.
- Scan your patch.
