Life Lately

These holidays consisted of some working days and some holiday too! I had more of a staycation than anything else and got to catch up on much needed sleep, time with friends, beach time, pool time and even me-time.

Pictures always say it best…

For New Years Eve, it was our good friend Marc’s 40th Birthday on the 1st of January, so we celebrated with a delicious meal at Mano’s Restaurant and brought in the New Years with friends.

Sadly Sox and I didn’t celebrate it together – he was there for the dinner and then had to rush off to his DJ gigs and entertain Cape Town!

We made up for it and had our own 10, 9, 8, 7… countdown kiss when we saw each other in the early hours of the morning!

I donned a black and gold sequinned dress to sparkle into 2016!

On January the 1st, I woke up hangover free – hooray! I made myself a fresh cup of Vanilla Tea and opened up my brand new sparkle journal to write down all my goals for the year. Turning my dreams into plans.

It’s also a tradition to go over to Sox’s Mom and Dad and cut the Vasilopita cake. It has a coin in it and whoever gets the coin is said to have extra fortune for the New Year.

We then joined Marc at Col’Cacchio for a birthday tradition…

The heatwave has been crazy, so we have eaten light meals of cold meats, cheeses, salads, cold juicy watermelon and so on…

I love the ombre colours of this lettuce…

We’ve spent time at friends lazing arond the pool. Lisa put out this pool side lunch, which was perfect for everyone to pick and choose.

It was really hot for beach days, but I had to take advantage of them still…

We also went to the cricket, where Marc had organised a box…

I played around with new braids and I can’t wait to start doing tutorials on my blog.

I had a manicure from Fox Box and went for a pale pink – I just felt like something natural.

Sox and I did some Pilates sessions together… It’s amazing for my back and for my core.

While a staycation is lovely, I find that I do more errands and things that don’t make it feel like a holiday. Sox had a gap in his schedule and we drove to Plett for a couple of days to meet up with friends.

It was short – literally 2 days, but it was better than nothing. It’s such a pretty drive too…

It was so hot, that we slept with all the doors and windows open. We even took cold showers in the early hours of the morning and even slept on the balcony outside.

After a scorcher of a day, we woke up the following morning to rain. It poured all day and it was actually a welcome relief from the heat. We lit fires, read our books, snuggled up with movies. Bliss.

After the rain…

It’s now back to work and back to eating nutritiously, exercising properly and ahem… I have 7 weeks to go before I wear my 2 wedding dresses! So excited!
