Delaire Wine Estate

Last weekend my best friend and soul sister, Karolina and her husband came down to Cape Town for the weekend for a “Baby Moon.”

I am so excited that Karolina is going to be a mommy. She is 6 months pregnant and due in September. I have been beside myself with excitement. I am taking being an “Aunty” very seriously and have had to stop myself on several occasions from buying the whole of Baby Gap and Baby Zara.

If anyone knows where I can get a “My Aunt is the BEST” onesie, let me know. Haha!

I’ve been very sad that I haven’t been in the same city, but I’ve got the pregnancy app, learning about babies growth and been going through everything with her as much as possible.

Her baby bump is super cute and I actually felt the little cherub move – it was the slightest movement, but it put me completely in awe of how growing a new life is such a miracle.

I’ve been feeling very nostalgic that we have gone through so much together, experienced so many of life’s amazing moments together, gone through milestones together and now we get to go through this new, exciting experience of K becoming a mother.

Anyway… Karolina and Filip booked at Delair Graff Wine Estate a few weeks ago when they booked their trip. Apparently you have to book months/weeks ahead.

The weather was grey, cold and rainy… romantic by the fire with a glass of wine or 2.

I donned my new black leather jacket over a warm jersey and headed out for a delicious afternoon.

We headed to the dining area and I loved the pots of fresh herbs…

Chardonnay for me
Non-alcohol cocktail for Karolina

Creamy vegetable soup with parmesan foam
Filip, a very proud and excited Dad-to-be
Sticky Pork neck with a poached egg and veges

The lamb looked amazing too

I love finishing off a meal with a good cup of tea.

This is the wine tasting and chocolate room. It felt so cozy and I definitely have to come back here to indulge.

The artwork is amazing too and I can wander around for ages staring at all the pieces on the wall and the sculptures.

This was on display and whilst it looked impressive, if you had to have that on your finger it would look like costume jewellery to me or even like one of those candy rings. Or perhaps that’s just me…
