Beauty Musts

Looking after yourself is an absolute must. It not only makes you feel better, it also shows self respect.

I have a few of my favourite beauty treats that I want to share with you.

Every girl should have Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream in their handbag. This is a life saver for small cuts and for chapped lips. I suffer from dry lips in Winter and this helps smooth things out after 1 application.

Exfoliating is something we should do at least once a week. You need to be gentle with your face, so make sure the product you use is specifically for your face. I love how fantastic my skin feels afterwards and also how my make-up glides on giving a dewy complexion.

There are plenty of body exfoliaters on the market, but nothing beats a home made recipe.

For my face, I add a little water and milk to oatmeal and massage that gently into my skin – you don’t need much. Your bathroom will look like a mini kitchen, but it’s so worthwhile.

For my body, I love olive oil and sea salt or even brown sugar. If you don’t want something so oily, use aqueous cream… it will absorb into the skin and then you just wash off the salt or sugar.

I’m going to share an amazing secret with you. You need to buy a tub of aqueous cream – make sure it is not scented and is the natural one. Buy a bottle of grapefruit oil and a bottle of mandarin oil. Add 10 drops of each oil into the aqueous cream and mix. Don’t be tempted to add more drops… it will seem like there isn’t enough, but there is. I added too many drops when I first tried this and it made my skin tingle uncomfortably.

Massage the cream onto your legs, arms, stomach, hips and bum but not your breasts. I’m serious. This is a fat loss cream. The oils soak into your skin and helps gradually break down the fat cells. This is not a weight loss remedy, but it sure does help make skin feel firmer.

Try it and let me know.

Cleopatra luxuriously bathed in milk and if it’s good enough for her, then it’s good enough for all of us. Every now and then I dip cotton wool into some full cream milk and use it as a cleanser. The lactose enzymes actually dissolve dirt and the protein nourishes your skin. Don’t forget to splash water on your face afterwards.

Another option is to use grapes. Cut grapes in half and massage the flesh all over your skin… it works similarly to the milk.

If eyes are the window to your soul, then eyebrows are the curtains. Please don’t over pluck your eyebrows and if you really are unsure, rather go to a professional beautician and get them to thread or wax them for you. I saw a really beautiful girl the other day and as soon as she turned her head, I instantly saw she had over plucked eyebrows that made her look like she was surprised all the time. Not a good look.

If you want to keep your eyebrows in place, here’s a little trick… I don’t use it often, but if I know I am going to be out all day and night, this works well. Lightly spritz an old tooth brush with some hair spray and then comb your eyebrows into place.

Do you have beauty tricks? Sharing is caring 🙂
