If you follow the fashion side of my blog, you’ll know that I’m a BIG fan of Freddy Jeans.
I’ve written about them here (how they work and why they’re so fabulous, especially for your bum), here and here.
Pregnancy changes your body. It’s inevitable and while it can be hard to see your body get bigger, it’s the only reason you want your body to get bigger (best reason) and I’m actually loving it and I’ve learned to embrace it.
Honestly though, for someone who has had weight issues in the past (and it’s still a constant battle between head and body), it’s tough to put on weight again. No sugar coating here: I’ve had a few hormonal moments of an ugly crying about: “Getting so fat!!!” and “Nothing fits me anymore!” I allow myself that moment, and only that moment – so 5 minutes – and then I give myself a healthy pep talk and sometimes the pep talk comes from my wonderful hubby. You are growing a little person – your body is going to change, hips get wider, your waist and ribs get broader, your tummy gets bigger with the amniotic fluid, uterus, placenta, in my case the huge Fibroid AND a healthy, growing baby! Like I said… I’ve embraced it now and I’ve posted before how I am in awe of my body and how it actually functions plus is able to grow a person – it’s crazy wow!
I also think, like most women, we tend to think/see ourselves much bigger than we actually are. So silly.
I’ve had to pack a lot of my clothes away and I was in Maternity clothes quite early on. The one thing that saddened me, as I rolled them up and packed them away, was my Freddy Jeans. These are the jeans that make me feel like a Goddess. They suck everything in, lift all the right places and I always feel good when I wear them. I rolled the last pair, put it away and with a little bit of fear, thought: “So long… Farewell… Oh I hope I’ll be able to wear you again one day!”
And then my “woe-is-me” clouds parted and light streamed through as I was scrolling on Instagram and saw the advert for Freddy Maternity Jeans! Happy Dance!
They are SO COMFORTABLE. I might not ever go back to the normal ones! Haha!
They are so flattering because they still lift the bum area, smooth your legs and sit comfortably below the bump, with a stretchy and supportive bump band that’s a part of the jeans.
I teamed them up with my “Eye See You” top I bought in London, my comfiest Havaiana Espadrilles and twisted my hair. See the full Freddy Range here: https://freddy.co.za

Gorgeous as always and your beautiful bump is growing JUST like it should. Enjoy the preggie days….we don’t experience many of them (well unless you want an entire soccer team of children) xxx

March 7, 2017 at 8:41 amWow those look awesome jeans. Sorry I have been meaning to ask but what happens to your fibroid after you give birth ? Are you gonna have that awful “2nd baby” of yours taken out ? Gosh I feel for you carrying both of those around. The baby is a good part but that fibroid mmm not nice.
March 7, 2017 at 1:27 pmHi Jayne,
March 10, 2017 at 11:43 amSo it’s quite complicated… They might not be able to remove it because it’s full of blood vessels and concerned of me bleeding too much! Might have to have another op later! My Gynae wants to leave it for now. BUT, it’s right on my cervix, so we are monitoring it and checking it doesn’t burst from pressure (could cause prem birth) and other complications! FUN! x
