My Birthday

I could not have asked for a better birthday. Yesterday, the 4th of February, it was my very first birthday in Cape Town. It was also my first birthday without my best friends and family and even though they were far away they still made me feel uber special.

That man of mine did everything he could to make my day as wonderful as possible. I honestly feel like the luckiest girl.

I woke up to Vanilla Tea in bed – hello? Day made.

I was utterly spoilt and so incredibly grateful.

How cute is this card?

I was then taken for a childhood nostalgic breakfast – Boiled eggs with soldiers.

Just in case I forgot how old young I was turning, I was reminded…

After breakfast, we went to the V & A Waterfront to Melissa’s The Food Shop to pick up the most delicious Red Velvet Cake.

I’ve blogged before about “not getting” the trend of Red Velvet… and then someone introduced me to this cake and I’m a believer.

I had to be really good in not opening and devouring it immediately.

When I returned home, I had 2 special deliveries of flowers… Both sunflowers (my faves) from my family with champagne and chocolates and from other friends Mark, Nicole and Tyrin. So awesome.

SPOILT! I certainly have been made to feel special

It was another beautiful day in Cape Town, so Sox’ friend offered to take us for another boat trip. We went into the harbour where I was greeted by a gorgeous seal sunbathing.

Last night I invited my friends to Cafe Caprice… It’s the perfect spot for Sundowners and absolutely the best place to celebrate my first birthday in Cape Town.

We put bottles of wine, beers and Savannahs on ice and had jugs of Pimms – so refreshing in the heat.

It was so wonderful to celebrate with my new friends and I had such a good party – yes, even on a school night!

Birthday Cake time…

Sox put candles on the Melissa’s Red Velvet Cake and chocolate cake that Dani baked me (how incredibly special?)

Making a wish

I genuinely thought I’d have so much cake left over… Erm… no!

The cakes were so delicious there were no left overs at all. I took this photo and when I came back, the boards were completely empty.

I honestly had one of the best birthdays ever and I have Sox, my family, my friends in Joburg and Cape Town to thank for that.

I have never felt more loved or special and I just felt completely and emotionally overwhelmed.

THANK YOU!!!
