My boyfriend came up with this brilliant suggestion of surprising my family for Father’s Day. He know’s I’ve been feeling a little homesick and missing my close friends and family. He arranged everything (amazing) and I flew to Johannesburg on Saturday afternoon.
It’s quite an experience traveling on crutches. Argh.
I turned down a wheelchair in Cape Town and regretted it. Of course the terminal we were boarding at, was the one at the very end of the airport building. Thanks Murphy’s Law.
On the flight, they arranged a wheelchair at Lanseria, which I actually turned down too, but it wasn’t negotiable as there are a lot of stairs there.
My sister and her boyfriend fetched me from the airport and it was so good to see them again. Mom and Dad has no idea and I was so excited to surprise them.
When I walked in they were so shocked and my sister rescued a glass plate from my mom’s hands. It was awesome to surprise them and see the looks on their faces turn into huge grins.
It was fantastic to see Duke too… We didn’t stop playing and cuddling.
I may be biased here, but I swear he is getting cuter and cuter!

On Sunday morning, we decided to go to the Fourways Farmer’s Market.
My dad giving me wine while I hold onto crutches. Best Dad! Haha |
This little girl was the sweetest and when I asked to take her photo, she got straight into this pose…
After the market, my mom had booked theatre tickets for this comedy production called “Twitch” at Monte Casino. It was really funny.
For dinner my family and my sister’s boyfriends family went to Ciro’s
On getting home, I was greeted by a sleepy face and cuddles.
This was one of the best Father’s Days and I’m so grateful I got to spend it with my family. Happy Father’s Day to my dad Charles Schneider, the man who inspires me, encourages me constantly, is always there for me no matter what and no matter where I am. I consider myself to be incredibly blessed to have such an amazing role model and father.
