I had a crazy weekend, but I love them like this. I was asked to be a judge at the Dog Fun Day being held at Irene Village Mall, organized by the The South African Daschund Rescue Club. I am a huge animal lover and I love that all the proceeds were going to the rescue club.

It was so sweet seeing the little sausage dogs parading around. I judged Happiest Daxi, Best Child handler, Golden Oldies and Best dressed.

I found it so hard to judge, because all the dogs were so gorgeous, had their own characters and all deserved to win, but I did my best and had a lot of fun. I was also very spoiled… I was generously given a blanket with Bulldogs on it for Duke and puppy biscuits as a Thank you.

From there, I raced to get from Pretoria back to Johannesburg to get ready for the SAFTA’s. What an amazing night it was. I attended the 6th Annual South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA) with my good friend actress and producer, Susana Kennedy.

The SAFTA’s are like the South African Oscars. It’s a prestigious event and normally I am more prepared, but I only decided I was going on Friday night, thanks to Susana. Luckily I had a dress in my wardrobe that I could wear.

The brilliant Studio 9 Hair Salon at Melrose Arch did my hair on my last minute request. (Sorry guys and thank you – you are always amazing.)

Susana, Nicci and I went together.  I was designated driver and we had to rush from the car quickly to avoid getting rained on. Luckily the ushers had big umbrellas for us.

We walked the red carpet and were interviewed by the press all the way down it… It was fun doing it with the girls.

I was incredibly impressed with the event. The stage and lighting was amazing, the entertainment and the amount of talent in one room was inspiring. The fashion was something to look at and the food was delicious. I very proudly stayed away from desserts.

Thanks Susana for all the laughs… I had fun being your hot date.
