Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day!

I must admit, I love love. I love making people feel special and appreciated. I don’t necessary agree with the whole commercialism of the day though. I don’t agree with the exorbitant inflated prices for flowers or dinner and yes I believe in the cliche, that showing love shouldn’t just be a one day occurrence.

However, there is nothing wrong with celebrating Valentines Day and making the most of the day!

There are a lot of “Love Sucks” Anti Valentine parties/dinners out there at the moment for the singletons. I really don’t hate Valentines …  I refuse to give up on love and I like to think I am a hopeful romantic.

My parents have been married for 32 years this year and they are still so in love. My mom was all giddy as she told me that this morning my Dad had left little love post-it notes everywhere my mom would go. He left a note on her tooth brush, on the shower door, on her tea cup, in her yoga bag, on the steering wheel of her car and throughout the day my mom has been reminded how much my dad loves her.

Now that is inspirational….

Since I don’t have a Valentine this year; I have decided that instead of hating the day, I’m going to have an “I love me” Valentines day.

While some may read this post shaking their heads muttering “Shame” … I am actually so excited because I rarely get “me time.”

I am going to have cocktails with my sister (her boyfriend is over in London at the moment) and then I’m going to make a homemade face mask, make popcorn, apply the mask and then watch the girlie movies that most guys moan and groan about when being dragged/forced to watch.

I have a combination skin so this mask is amazing as it balances out the oily and dry areas your skin… I also love that is has rose petals – very Valentines 😉

  • Optional: 6 fresh rose petals
  • 2 tbsp rosewater
  • 1 tbsp natural yogurt, room temperature (not low fat or fat free)
  • 1 tbsp runny honey (to get honey runny, you can warm it in a microwave for a few seconds).

Soak rose petals, then crush them in a bowl.

Add the rosewater, yogurt and honey.

Mix well and apply to the skin.

Leave on for 10 minutes.

Always know your self worth and remember to love yourself completely…. I’ve learned that it isn’t selfish, it’s essential.

You shouldn’t complete someone, you should compliment them.

Whether you are involved or single, I hope you have a wonderful Valentines Day.
