Whirlwind Weekend

I was in Cape Town for less than 24 hours this weekend and it was a complete whirlwind trip, but I loved it. I adore Cape Town. What I would give to move there. Just saying 🙂

I was flown down for the Heineken Symphonic Rocks concert. I got to fly in the brand new Kulula plane – only 625 hours of flying time at that stage. I love the interior lights that change all different colours throughout the flight.

I will tell you about our little delay story… The pilot came on to say that we were ready to leave, in fact we could actually leave a little earlier than scheduled, but 6 passengers had checked in, but hadn’t boarded. Due to safety regulations they were now going to have to go through all the luggage and remove their luggage. You just heard the entire plane groan and moan. About 10 minutes later, the 6 selfish divas arrived…they strolled in with their super high heels and sunglasses on. The whole plane sarcastically erupted in applause and they all waved, thinking it was a good thing. FAIL!

Upon arriving, I was whisked away to a potjiekos day at new friends. They have a potjie competition where there are 4 teams who make a potjie each. It’s very serious 😉 Hehe. It was fantastic.

Oh and for those reading from overseas…it’s a proudly South African dish… This is what a potjie is.

As soon as the judges started trying the different potjies, we had to leave and rushed to the Heineken Symphonic Rocks concert.

The show consists of the most amazing South African musicians, plus Ed Roland from Collective Soul all performing their hits with a 65 piece symphonic orchestra. MAGIC!

It now moves to Joburg this weekend, the 6th of October. Tickets are available at Computicket – and no, this isn’t a sponsored sales pitch – haha – I really enjoyed it and think you will too!

From there, we headed out to 31 nightclub where we joined up with our “potjie” mates. The champagne was flowing a little too fast and I only got 2 and half hours sleep before needing to head back to the airport to catch my flight. It was an AWESOME, FUN, WHIRLWIND weekend!

If you can see this clearly, YOU’VE had too much champagne!
