Thankful Thursday: Being surrounded by positivity

Thankful Thursday is something I created on my blog last year and it’s back.

I was told a few days ago that, and I quote: “You are far too happy and positive for my liking.”

I was really taken aback by that. It actually made me laugh, which I’m sure was not the response expected… I think he wanted to make me feel bad. Sorry it didn’t work.

I just feel bad/sorry for that attitude…  How miserable.

I believe being happy and positive is a state of mind. It’s a choice you make. Life happens and everyone goes through ups and downs. It’s how you choose to deal with the bad and see the good from any situation that really builds your character.

No one is permanently happy. That is impossible. We’re all human after all. Besides, clowns freak me out because they always have those permanent smiles stuck on their faces and it not only looks unnatural, it looks creepy.

My nickname is Little Miss Sunshine because I choose to be happy. Yes, I have bad days, I have a good cry and get over it… Emotions are real and I never scoff at any of them. If I have a tough day, I allow it and know that tomorrow is a new one with new opportunities.

Life is hard, we don’t need to be so hard on ourselves. Life should be about having fun and making the most of any situation… it does take practice.

If you’re having a crappy day, try the whole “Fake it til you make it” idea. Put a smile on. Even if it doesn’t reach your eyes it psychologically lifts your spirits. Keep smiling until you actually feel better. You may look like the creepy clown, but try it. Smiling?

Good.

Oh and if you really want a natural pick me up…take a daily dose of Vitamin B. Trust me. There is also a reason why they say exercise defeats depression…1 word -Endorphins.

I believe part of your happiness and positivity in life is being surrounded by people who live happily and positively. Trust me, they too have bad days, but it’s how they handle them that makes the difference. My Thankful Thursday goes to the people in my life who make a massive difference. Over the past few years I have weeded. What I mean by that is removing the weeds (negative people) from my pretty garden (my life) and trust me I am so much better for it.

I am now surrounded by people who are happy, fun, uplifting, motivating, inspiring and let me tell you something… they’ve all gone through some seriously tough times and are better and stronger because of it. Their choice. Interesting, isn’t it?
