My Mom has been saying how lucky we are to have such a beautiful range of Maternity Wear. In her day, it was all about dressing the bump down (not necessarily hiding it, but not exactly showing it off beautifully) and ultimately, the fashion was frumpy.I’ve been amazed with how many brands I’ve discovered in my pregnancy and I particularly love supporting local designers (Mompreneurs.)
Allow me to introduce you to another maternity fashion brand called: Lonzi&Bean
Lonzi&Bean was born in May 2015 after best friends for 20 years – Ilona (Lonzi) & Claire (Bean) – discovered it was near impossible to find maternity wear in South Africa that was flattering, comfortable, practical and lasted more than a few months. So they decided to create a range that they wished they could find when pregnant and nursing their babies.
Most garments are designed for pregnancy, for breastfeeding and for as long as you wish – meaning better value for money.
This is the UltiMum dress. It’s a Maternity and Nursing dress and ranges between R500 – R650. I love that I can wear it post baby too (besides, your tummy doesn’t just go down flat immediately- it takes some time for everything to go back to (hopefully) normal!)
It’s available with short and long sleeves and comes in 10 colour combinations.
I of course had to go with the Navy-Vanilla combo 😉 Sucker for Vanilla, obviously.
I love the length of the dress – it’s not too long or short. I often find maternity dresses, if they’re not maxi, go below your knees and just make you look dumpy.
It has a band that really gives you a waist and the fabric falls over your bump really comfortably. The criss cross top allows for easy access for breastfeeding too.
Let the pictures show you…
I teamed this dress up with my leather ankle boots from LiliKoi and my Michael Kors Tote. I’ve also worn it with sneakers for a more sporty look and knee high boots too for the colder days.
Lonzi&Bean have a range of dresses, tops, skirts, leggings, tunics and even baby wear. Check out their website: https://www.lonziandbean.com/

May 12, 2017 at 12:56 pmI think my mum still has the mindset that bumps should be “hidden”! We’ve spent hours looking for oversized tops that ultimately just leave me feeling like a whale!
This dress is absolutely stunning!! Think I might have to take myself shopping…
May 12, 2017 at 12:52 pmThanks for finding all the gorgeous maternity clothes and modelling them all! 🙂
I must be honest, the oversized ones make me look sooooo much bigger vs the things that are tighter, which make the bump look better and I feel better too. The irony – I never wore skin tight things pre-baby… and now it’s my preference. Haha!
May 12, 2017 at 12:55 pmRather get tighter tops and throw a jacket over. I don’t like my back (love handles) but the jacket hides that, while still keeping the bump looking cute!
It’s been finding these maternity clothes and I hope it helps other Moms – to – be! Hope your pregnancy is going well xxxx
I love the dress and you look beautiful in it Bailey! You’re doing a great job of finding amazing maternity wear and sharing it with us. Thanks xxx
