Friday was such an emotional day for me. Saying good bye to the Afternoon Drive show after 7 years was just heart breaking, but also exciting, because it means that I have an opportunity for new challenges, growth and exciting ventures.

I was so proud of Mark Pilgrim and myself. I tried my best to “keep it together” on the show, but my hands were shaking and the lump in my throat was huge. There were a few tears and I had a good cry on my great friend and colleague Derek Albert’s shoulder after the show… I kinda let it all out. Sorry D… Mascara on your shirt isn’t a good look. My fault. 🙂

Also – thank you to my amazing mates who all turned up for a big party at Buddha Ta to celebrate with me.

I mentioned that I had BIG NEWS and I would tell you on Monday. If you heard the final show on Friday, then it actually came out then. I hadn’t planned to say anything, but it happened and I’m thrilled about the exciting news.

I have been inundated with questions: Where am I going? What am I doing?

I can finally answer them for you.

I am staying at 94.7 Highveld Stereo as a freelance presenter. It’s originally how I started at 94.7 as an actual presenter of shows, before I moved into traffic (a happy accident).  I will stand in for people if and when they need me to. So I’m not gone entirely guys 🙂

However, the BIG NEWS is this:

I am joining the biggest internet radio station in the country: 2Oceansvibe Radio.

They are based in Cape Town, but their exiting news is that they have built brand new studios here in Johannesburg at Melrose Arch and will be launching in the city, later this month.

I’m absolutely ecstatic to be hosting my own show Monday – Friday. I get to choose my own music and have absolute creative freedom on the show. Eek! It’s so exciting and a little scary too.

The great news with this, is that I go from being regional to international.

My shows will be as follows: Tuesday is going to be my main show: 2-5pm and I will have spin off shows Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 2-3pm.

I have taken this week off just to have a mini break and to also focus on what I’m going to be doing on the show.  I have some great ideas already and I am really looking forward to hosting.

I am busy working on content and features at the moment. Honestly, there are so many things I want to do and only a few hours to do them in – LOL. I’m also interested in you guys and that’s where you come in… What would you LOVE to hear on radio? What is missing for you, that you would love to hear?

This is essentially OUR show… Yours and mine.

I will be starting my first show on Tuesday the 10th of April 2012 from 2-5pm.

I cannot thank you enough for all your comments, messages and unwavering support. I don’t know if you have any idea how humbled I am and how you have made me feel very special and grateful.
