I couldn’t have asked for better friends and I am really humbled by their efforts and so grateful to them all.
For years I have gone to friends baby showers and even thrown 2 baby showers myself, so it felt incredibly surreal to be heading to one… for me and Baby G!
My BFF Karolina threw the shower for me, which was amazing considering she lives in Johannesburg and my good friend Laura helped her and generously offered her home for the day.
Friends and family were invited from Johannesburg and Cape Town and I was so grateful to those who could make it.
Not only did Karolina and Laura do an amazing job, but so many others pulled together after there was a bit of a misunderstanding and let down with an events company re decor and catering. My girlfriends were so incredible at getting decor last minute, like suddenly 150 balloons arrived in various blue shades about an hour into my being there, bunches of flowers arrived too and it looked beautiful. I also had no idea that last minute, Karolina called Sox, who organized massive platters of delicious Greek food from one of our favourite restaurant, Mykonos to be delivered.
All of this happened without my knowledge of any mishaps, until after the shower!
I’m truly blessed with the best and it was actually really special to hear how my girlfriends banded together to make sure I had such an incredible time, after a bit of a stressful morning for them. For me, it was simply about being with the people I love so much. These beautiful “twinkle twinkle” and “little star” cupcakes arrived from Granny Goose, which was such a delicious surprise.
My MIL, Dimitra, baked one of her famous carrot cakes:
I absolutely loved having Fox Box there to pamper the girls with manicures, pedicures and hand and foot massages. A lot of my friends are Moms and since their kids weren’t there, I think it was wonderful for them to sit back, relax with a glass of bubbles and be pampered, while we all spent time together chatting away.
My Mom and Dad flew down for the day and flew back that evening again… it was so nice to have them. Baby G is their first grandchild <3
The 2 Grans… Baby G is Dimitra’s 5th grandchild (5 grandsons) and my Moms first.
I love how special these onesies are, decorated with well wishes and a beautiful journal, with pearls of wisdom on motherhood – perfect to read through, while breastfeeding at night. I had 2 gift registries. One online at Baby Group, which was delivered to my home the Wednesday, after my baby shower. The other one was online at Granny Goose, which was delivered to Laura’s house – beautifully packaged with hand written notes.
Baby G got utterly spoiled and I’m just so grateful!
A huge THANK YOU to everyone of you for making Baby G and I feel so loved. It makes me emotional when I think about how lucky we are to have so many amazing Aunty’s who love him so much already – what a lucky little boy!
To my KK – you are a true soul sister and I can’t put into words how much I love and appreciate you. So grateful for everything you did.
To my Laura, you are amazing for opening your home and being simply the best!
Photography: Tegan Smith – it was so special to have you there. Thank you for capturing our special day.
