A Pink Door, a Pomegranate and a Dress (Maternity Fashion)

It might not be my finest blog title ever, but bare with me.

A lot of my ordinary clothes don’t fit anymore and I’ve had to buy some maternity clothes. I’ve bought some awesome Maternity jeans from H&M, and instead of going all maternity, I have been buying dresses in bigger sizes. Like this one, from Woolworths. I’m 17 weeks pregnant now. Baby G is the size of, according to the fruit/veggie chart, either a large turnip or large pomegranate. Pomegranate sounds a little sweeter and cuter. So funny.

I feel pretty good now… I sometimes forget about being pregnant and then I jump up like I usually would, only to feel the extra weight in front and if I do get up too quickly, my stomach muscles ache and I also feel a crampy, pulling feeling low down – apparently it’s the ligaments stretching.

I also felt Baby G move for the first time last week. I felt it one evening and to be honest, wasn’t sure if it was my stomach rumbling or even gas. Ha! BUT it didn’t feel like any of that and it felt like a flutter. When I turned to me “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” book, to see if it was even possible at 16 weeks, it told me that 16 weeks onwards is when you can expect movement and in the beginning, with it being so small, it’s called Fluttering. I’ve felt it 3x since then and it’s definitely little flutters, like a little wave under your skin. I cry every time – it just makes me so happy and emotional.

Preggy brain is a real thing. The things I have done lately, have left me red faced more often than I can count.

  • I walked around for 20 minutes looking for my car because I just couldn’t remember where I had parked it.
  • Genuinely getting myself into a tizz because I was running so late and I can’t find my keys. Only to discover they were in my hand the whole time.
  • I paid with my credit card and the waiter stood waiting for me to put my PIN in. I kept looking at it waiting for the instruction to Insert PIN. It didn’t come, so I sat there holding it thinking it was taking some time to connect. Eventually the waiter, asked me if there was a problem and I told him I was waiting to put the PIN in. He then politely said that I could enter it. When I looked at the machine again there it was saying: Credit Card PIN the whole time. I just laughed and went bright red. Luckily I can point at my belly and say: “Preggy Moment!”
  • I’ve also started stories and then completely forgotten the ending or even the punch line. This is not great when I’m on my radio show and I’m glad it hasn’t happened to me ON AIR (yet.)

My back has been pretty sore, so I’ve been looking for the perfect pregnancy pillow and I’ve finally found the one. It arrives soon so I’ll be able to share it with you then. I cannot wait!

Speaking of backs, lets get into the dress I bought. It’s 2 sizes bigger than I usually take so that the bump also has room to grow and I like that it’s not too tight. The back little slit detail is pretty.

It’s a dress that can be worn with flat nude pumps, like these:

Or, swap the flats for nude heels, like these:

Outfit details: Dress – Woolworths // Nude flats – Rubi (Cotton On) // Nude heels – Aldo // Sunglasses  -Rose Mirrored Raybans from Sunglass Hut

Thanks Jayne! I never used to understand why preggy women spoke in weeks either. I only get it now. Each week is a milestone and there is so much development from week to week and so much growth. Like last week eyelashes and eyebrows were forming. This week, that’s done and fingerprints are forming! It’s mad to think what happens week to week! So now I get it…before I’d be like: why can’t you just say how many months you are? Also… the months don’t correlate with the weeks. I’m 17 weeks, which should mean I’m 4 months a week, right? But from 18-21 weeks it’s 5 months! xxxx
