I’ve arrived in Johannesburg to MC an event for Ford this evening and while I am really looking forward to this event, it is also a really devastating visit too.
I can’t believe I’m even typing this… I will also be attending the funeral of a very dear friend, Dean Jones.
I got the call on Sunday evening during the World Cup Final and I have been in shock, numb, devastated and every other emotion too.
Dean, you’ve been taken too soon, so tragically and violently and I am devastated.
I’m also heart broken for everyone you have left behind, especially your family, your incredible mom Virginia Jones, all your friends and your beautiful wife, my amazing friend Ismini.
Dean, I’m really going to miss your infectious laugh and smile that always lit up a room. You had the biggest heart of gold. The way you loved and cherished Ismini was honestly the most beautiful and inspiring thing. You will never ever be forgotten and I feel blessed that I got to call you my friend. You always stood out as one of those people who genuinely wanted to know how I was when you asked: “How are you Bailz?” and I’ll never forget the straight forward honesty you had on topics and advice. We all appreciated it more than you know.
|Ismini and Dean|
Ismini, my angel friend, I can’t begin to imagine what you are going through but just know that I am here, we all are… and I am sending you all the love and strength I can possibly give you. We will all be here for you and to lift you up, no matter what.
I can’t even begin to make sense of this and I don’t know if we ever will understand why this has happened. I just know that you made an impact on everybody you met and your legacy will live on.
Until we meet again… RIP Dean.
