Win a Spindel

I have the Spindel at home and it’s been a game changer.

I have another game life changer arriving any time from now to a few weeks time: Baby G, who will be going through laundry like crazy. I’m thrilled to be having a Winter baby, but I need to ensure that his laundry is washed and dried quickly, so that we can snuggle up together in fresh blankets and adorable onesies (and I’m just talking about mine! Half joking.)

Cape Town winters are usually rainy, so with the past rainy seasons, this has really helped get my laundry dry, in no time. However, we are in such a water crisis at the moment, that we are praying for rain and I hope it rains for weeks on end – please!

So what is a Spindel?

The Spindel is a specialist laundry spinner that uses centrifugal force to remove excess water. It removes up to 80% water within 3 and a half minutes. It’s amazing!

After our clothes have been washed, they are usually spun in the washing machine on the spin cycle setting.

After that, I pop them into the Spindel and give them another spin for the 3.5 minutes. You cannot believe how much water still comes out.

The residual detergents and mineral deposits from baby clothes and linen are also removed in the spin cycle which means fabrics are softer and less likely to cause irritation to a baby’s sensitive skin. I mean just look at the colour of that water and the bubbles removed.

It’s safe for all fabrics, including your delicates and after using it, some of my clothes are dry enough they can be ironed straight away.

I also love how small it is, so it really doesn’t take up any space, but don’t be put off by it’s size. 6, 5kg of laundry fits inside, including big bath sheets, duvet covers… you name it. It works a charm! One Spindel cycle uses 100 times less electricity than a tumble dryer cycle.

Speaking of, the Spindel is also eco friendly and cost effective in comparison to a tumble dryer, which is expensive to run, takes up space, releases toxic fumes from heated up detergent residues, a 60 minute cycle releases up to 15kg of CO2 emissions and they cause irreversible heat damage to fabrics.

Where can I buy one?

Spindel is available from home retailers like Hirch’s, Tafelberg Furnishers and Wakefords. You can also find Spindel online at www.takealot.com, otherwise see their other stockiest on the website: www.spindel.co.za

How do I win?

Leave a comment below telling me why you need a Spindel in your life.

I’ll be announcing the winner on Monday the 29th of May.

Good luck x

PS. I made a YouTube video of how it actually works 2 years ago:

Oh I desperately need one! I work long hours, which means mostly my clothes are washed late and night and gets hung around the house on coat hangers, a clotheshorse and various makeshift washing lines….my house regularly looks like the laundry basket exploded all over it in an attempt to get everything dry. Because i work long hours I’m hardly ever home during the daytime and can’t hang my stuff outside to try quicker. This will certainly make my life a LOT easier.

Hi. I can just imagine how this would change my life. I live in a townhouse… working.. getting home after 6pm.. Doing washing at that time of the day. My drying rack is set up in the dining room. Winter time the damp clothes makes the house very cold and has a huge affect on my lungs breathing in the damp and cold air.

    Hi Bailey

    Love your blogs!!

We had a Spindel many years ago and with two kids (a toddler and a 10 year old) a Spindel would be great to dry their clothes in winter, be it soccer and Martial Arts clothes or the toddler’s many outfits she wears every day! 🙂

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

    Hi Bailey!

Oh my word I got excited just reading this post! We are currently in a teeny flat where we definitely don’t have space for a tumble dryer 🙁 I already always have washing hanging out to dry, which is such a pain, so I don’t know how I am going to get anything dry in winter. The spindel sounds like the most amazing solution! We have also just found out that we are expecting (how I found your stunning blog), so like you say, with the increased washing, the spindel is actually a necessity! 🙂 I would love love love one 🙂

Thank you for your fabulous blog beautiful lady <3

I’ve been a long time reader of Vanilla Blonde and remember the Spindle video, ever since then I’ve wanted one. We look after orphans that can’t be adopted over weekends which I love, we do all their weekly washing. Getting it done, dry and ironed before they head back is a task on it’s own. I need a spindle in my life and would be forever grateful.

With a toddler in the house the drying process for clothes takes forever and the cutest outfits always fill the washing lines (leaving little or no space for mom and dads clothes)… so with winter, everything will take longer… But with the Spindle, it will be awesome to help the drying process. Looks like an amazing “little helper” … fingers crossed to win this amazing price! xxx

Hi Bailey I would love to win this for my parents. As environmentally conscious pensioners they have always wanted and really need a Spindel. The Spindel would make their lives so much easier. Less to spend on electricity, less CO2 emissions amongst so many benefits for pensioners. They wash their own clothes and as it is their arthiritis and asthma is acute and damp clothing makes it worse. With the help of angels I hope I can win this for them.

I need this as I have to wash our son’s school uniforms twice a week, then it’s a struggle to make sure it’s dry before he needs it again, uniforms cost a bucket load therefore we can’t simply buy more, so being able to quickly wash and then dry them out more efficiently would make life a whole heap easier on all of us and hopefully not being exposed to sunlight will also help prolong the life of the clothes.

Also my husband works with grease and oil all day and I have to regularly wash his clothes and then I struggle to get it dry, especially now that it’s winter and I cannot hang it on the complex’s washing lines, because our clothes have been stolen a couple of times so I have to use a fan in the apartment to get it to dry more quickly. I also live in 2 bedroom apartment so space is limited and a Spindle would work great!

I live in a flat that doesn’t have washing lines in the complex so I’m having to take my clothes to a laundry which is really costing me a lot of money and I’ve been doing this for a year now so I’d like to change this. Also having a Spindel will really help with the quick washing I need done, like dirty dry off clothes but more importantly for when there’s a spill or a mess I’ll be able to soak it out immediately and dry it without having to wait for when the laundry is open to take my items to have washed and dried. I’ve been wanting a Spindel since it launched in SA because I just think it’s an amazing product and really is helpful!

This spindle would actually be a life changer for me! I’m a part-time student with a full time job and study whenever and wherever I can. It is draining but looking towards the goal that I aim aiming for makes it all worth it! My days are so jam packed that I literally dread the time it takes to wait for clothes to dry (and remember them on the line! ). With Winter coming, having to hang clothes outside in the cold, not to mention how your hands freeze, is a mission. The Spindel would make keeping up with life and a busy schedule so much easier ( and looking stylish with well cared for clothes). 😉

I NEED a spindel soley because of my Hubby’s clothes, he’s a diesel mechanic and therefore I need to wash clothes almost daily in order for oil / grease marks to be minimally visible. With winter its a huge challenge as his things don’t dry that easily. This would minimize the time and ensure he doesn’t go to work sans undies because they didn’t dry the night before.

A Spindel has been on my wishlist since forever. But now more than ever I really would love to have one. My little boy is due in July of this year and because I stay in a small place, I don’t have the funds or space for a tumble dryer. I would love to have a Spindel to use for the baby clothes and blankets. I love that it uses 100 times less electricity than a tumble dryer and that it is safe to use on all fabrics which makes it the perfect appliance to own. Whenever I see a competition where a Spindel is up for grabs, I’ve entered but haven’t been lucky as yet. Maybe this time my fairy godmother will smile upon me and grant me my wish. Fingers, toes and fairy wings crossed for this one

I could really use one these as i live in a flat and we always hang the washing around the house and it takes very long to dry in winter this would help soooo much.

Oh my the Spindel is definitely something I need in my life!!! We live in a flat which means limited hanging space on our veranda and in winter things NEVER dry quickly = never ending washing pile up! Also my husband is a real money saver which is good but frustrating when I want to use the tumble drier! This would be a very welcome addition in our home!

Oh my goodness! I live with my 2 sisters, and needless to say, laundry is a nightmare! Especially in winter. Most of the time our spare bedroom/study is covered in laundry that is still wet after the 2nd day – we do not have a lot of sunny rooms in our townhouse! We also have the worst location outside for a washing line. We had to set our washing machine to wash 60min cycles in order to get most of the water out, otherwise the clothes will NEVER dry. So doing laundry is a very tedious process! We don’t like a tumble dryer for the obvious reasons – it shrinks and damages clothes (good excuse when picking up a little weight :-)), not good for the environment at all and the electricity bill – terrifying! A Spindel will be awesome to have! (fingers crossed 🙂

Work pretty much starts in the morning and ends at night, even end up taking work home, so drying clothes for natural drying does not work out, so a spindel is literally a life saver if I could my hands on one please 🙂

Oh my word a Spindel would be so great as I live in a small townhouse and the washing just takes so long to dry when hung on a clothes dryer in the diningroom. I would love to win one. All the best for Baby G and love love your blogs. Thank you.

Awesome… I love the Spindle & read and heard some awesome reviews… I live with my in laws in KZN and I have two little munchkins… We only have a helper washing clothes thrice a week… Because there’s such a huge pile of washing sometimes the clothes don’t get dry. This will be a lifesaver for us plus saving the environment and saving electricity. #fingerscrossed #spindle
