Thankful Thursdays: You

Thankful Thursdays is back and it’s all thanks to you!

I’m thankful to you, the one reading this very post.

I often think about you.

I wonder where you are reading this. I wonder if you are still in your pyjamas reading this before you start your day, with a cup of steaming coffee, or are you a tea drinker, like me? Are you reading it on your phone or on your computer/laptop? I wonder if you read this when you arrive at the office, or do you read on your lunch break?  Is it a part of your daily routine, or do you binge read blogs on the weekend, like you do a TV series?

I wonder where in the world you are? London? America? Europe? Australia? I wonder which part of South Africa you’re from and if your internet connection opens my sometimes-photo-heavy posts quickly enough.

I wonder if you’re a mom, a dad, if you’re a teenager in high school, perhaps a university student and I wonder what you’re studying and what you’re hoping to achieve. I wonder if you’re in the working world and if you’re enjoying doing what you’re doing?

I wonder if you’re single, in a relationship, if you’ve just fallen in love, out of love – are you happy?

I share so much of my life with you and that’s why I wonder who you are, reading Vanilla Blonde – my personal journal. I love that I get to choose what to share and have given you the tiny little keys to my diary. I also love taking trips down memory lane and being reminded of things I’ve done or how far I’ve come, by going back into VB’s Archives.

I wonder how many of you have been reading since the very beginning, how many of you have gone through my different relationships, gone through my career building, read my highs and my lows. I wonder how many of you sporadically read, dipping in and dipping out.

Yes, I have Google Analytics and I can see most of this, but I don’t see you as a stat, a number… it’s so much more than that. I might wonder about who you are, what your hobbies are and what makes you tick, because I see you as a friend. I hope that’s how it comes across when I share a new recipe, or a beauty find, fashion find, or share an experience.

I’m so thankful for the comments you leave me. They make me feel like this isn’t a one-sided letter and I hope you know that I don’t see the comments as validation for a post, like some blogs have become. For me, it’s the friendship, the community and that’s what I’m very thankful for.surround.jpg

I check in around lunch time with a cup of tea, daily, for a couple of years now. It’s my break from figures and contracts 🙂 We are currently busy with the process of immigration and it’s stressful and tiring and an emotional roller coaster. This little spot here, it’s my ray of sunshine in a busy life, and will continue to be when I read from New Zealand 🙂

Hey Kammi, I’m so happy to read this! Wow! You’re really going through an exciting / stressful period – it will all be worth it in the end. Just remember – you are exactly where you’re supposed to be 😉 New Zealand is apparently beautiful – I have a some friends who live there and they rave about it! Good luck with the move and I’m thrilled to hear I’ll have you reading there! x

I am reading this in my office, away from my family, friends and my beloved. I recently discovered your blog and i love it! It’s my go to place now. Been working as a social worker for the past year, in a rural area, somewhere in the Green Kalahari. Just a small town girl with the spirit of a city girl. I guess following your journey is keeping my city girl spirit alive. I miss Cape Town and Stellenbosch where i studied for 4 years. Thinking of packing up my bags and moving back to Cape Town. Thank you for feeding my city girl spirit.

Reading this while taking a “smoke break” at work. I check in everyday to see if there is a new blog post and have to admit I’m slightly disappointed when there isn’t one. Very off the topic, but today whilst applying my mascara, I remember reading one of your older blogs where you posted that when you’re going out and you don’t put makeup on, you always apply mascara – and that has kinda stuck – one of Bailey’s Beauty Tips! Just thought I would let you know :).

This is part of my daily read….whenever I get a gap so it’s either in the morning….between meetings, emails or general frantic madness! Started reading your blog and then you voiced a youtube ad for a client of mind [remember MySmartKid?!] and meeting you in person converted me to a daily reader!! Love your blog. You inspire me to find the beauty in my daily life so thank you.

I’m reading this post before tackling some household chores looking for some energy and inspiration. I had withdrawal symptoms when you got quiet around your wedding and honeymoon. Thank you for adding beauty to my world and most of the time for hitting the nail on the head when I need inspiration. I read your post about interview “guidelines” around the time I went for a job interview (I got the job!!!), so thank you… It is sometimes as if you are peering over my shoulder as you type your posts specially for me. I wish you as much beauty and love you give this world, you are sich a beautiful soul xx
