Sunday was the 1st Mothers Day in my 30 years that I wasn’t with my mom. I woke up feeling very heartsore, but I made a cup of tea and phoned mom immediately. Her voice soothes me and she has one of the greatest laughs. We chatted for a while, heard Duke and his “talking” and I felt better knowing that my sister was there to make mom feel special.
I’m going back to Joburg on Friday for some work and of course, the bonus is I can’t wait to see everyone.
Anyway, as I wasn’t able to celebrate Mothers Day with mom, I was invited to be a part of something incredible. The Table of Peace and Unity is a lunch that has taken place annually for 14 years. It’s the worlds “longest table”, on one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World, Table Mountain. It’s amazing. 700 people sit at ONE table, break bread together, eat amazing food prepared by top chef’s, get entertained, participate in an auction and it’s all for an amazing cause – to come in peace and unity to raise money for children, abused, neglected, infected with HIV/AIDS and those in need.
I took my friend Natalie, from Tails of a Mermaid (read her blog – so awesome) as my date and we had such fun. It was an amazing experience.
Cape Town was showing off again with super weather and the views were something else.
It was very important to know which side you were sitting on (A or B) because once you started looking for your seat, you couldn’t just move across to the other side as there wasn’t a break. Quite interesting.
