I hope to never truly take the important things in life for granted. Spending time with mom and dad this weekend has been beyond special.
My amazing and kind boyfriend sent me up to Johannesburg this weekend, as a surprise for my mom’s birthday.
With my little sister overseas on holiday (London and Ibiza) and my living in Cape Town, this would have been the first birthday without both her daughters.
My dad fetched me from the airport and I walked into the house to find a very surprised mom! So cute!
We went for a quick lunch and mom suggested the strawberry daiquiri’s (just saying!)
Sesame covered feta cheese with strawberries. |
Of course, one of the best things about going back home is that I just melt every time I see my ever growing Duke.
On her actual birthday, we went to the restaurant al Fiume. It’s on the Hennops River and you sit on the deck by the river enjoying music, food and wine.
I feel really blessed to have the parents that I do. I am blessed to have amazing role models. My mom has such grace, class, strength, warmth and love! Happy Birthday mom!
I had to take a photo of this – even though they were swarming all around me.
When we got home, we decided to take Duke down to the dam.
This is what happens when you let him go for a little bit… He went straight into the stinky mud.
We weren’t quite expecting to give him a bath last night, but we saw his evil plan!
He still has his very first toy. I think I still see him as this puppy below, but when I see him lying next to the toy now, I can’t get over how big he is!
I fly back tomorrow morning and I’m just so grateful that I got to spend time with mom and dad.
