MINI Clubman

On Monday I got this feeling to tweet:

I don’t know why, I just did and my week was unbelievably crazy – crazy busy and crazy good.

Let’s put it this way I knew that it was my final week of the course I have been studying and needed to get my final assignment done. I also had major work deadlines and the last thing I was thinking about was a car.

Here’s the story:

Last year when I was visiting Cape Town a lot for work, MINI Cape Town tweeted me out of the blue offering me a test drive while I was down on my stay.

To be perfectly honest, I was quite taken a back – how thoughtful and amazing – and er, what’s the catch?

I developed a great relationship with Francis Gersbach and his team at MINI Cape Town and every time I came down to Cape Town, they offered me a MINI for the day or a weekend.

Over the year period, we got chatting about my car I own in Johannesburg and how I would eventually be needing to trade it in.

After the amazing- no-strings-attached generosity they had shown me, I had said to Francis last year October, that since he had been so cool and kind to me, I would repay the loyalty if he could find me a great deal. No promises, just a humble spoken agreement.

I’m happy to say that we are people of our word. I think this is so important in life.

Last Monday I got a call from Francis to say that there was this amazing deal that had come forward, he hadn’t forgotten about me and I should come in to chat. I did and it was an offer I couldn’t refuse. I wouldn’t be losing any money and my car instalments each month would be exactly the same as what I was already paying, if not slightly cheaper.

Incredible!

So from Monday morning of not even thinking about a new car, I drove out with a gorgeous MINI Clubman on Thursday afternoon. They aren’t mass manufactured and I love that they’re pretty unique.

I’d just like to thank Francis Gersbach at MINI Cape Town for tweeting me last year offering me a test drive. Your generosity, kindness and professionalism led to a sale. Bravo and Thank You.

I must say that it’s a complete coincidence that the mascot for MINI is an English Bulldog. On handing me my new keys, they also gave me a MINI keyring. I now have “Duke” with me all the time. LOVE!
