I have not done a tagged meme in ages, so when I got tagged in One Stiletto at a Time‘s blog post I got really excited!
Here are my answers:
What do you watch or read during me-time?
Me-time is a complete luxury these days, so when I do get some, I treasure it completely. It all depends what I’m in the mood for.
1. I love cuddling up with a fort of cushions and blankets. I normally have my laptop on my lap, with the TV on. I multi-task between reading blogs, catching up online and watching movies and series.
This was me on Friday night – vanilla tea and The Bachelor, which has honestly had some of the craziest girls yet! Hilarious.
2. I have a full on pamper session of a bubblebath with candles, wine or tea (also depends on the mood), a face mask, coconut oil hair mask, exfoliation and mani/pedi.
3. I read my book. I have just finished 2 books (John Grisham’s Sycamore Tree and Liane Moriarty’s The Husbands Secret), which sounds impressive, but I’ve been reading them for a long time, stealing moments to read like on plane trips and before I go to bed. I switch between them. I wrote this on Friday and then downloaded The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins on Saturday and finished it on Sunday morning. I couldn’t put it down – even though I had to. It’s excellent and the twists and turns make you just want to figure it all out even more.
What do you wear during me-time?
I definitely get comfortable. I adore pyjamas and even more so in winter, when they’re really snuggly. I’ll get into my pjs or a big sweatshirt, tie my hair up into a top bun and pop on slippers or my Uggs.
What are your me-time beauty products?

Current favourite nail polish?
I’m loving Vinylux’s “Cake Pop” and Morgan Taylor’s “My Carriage Awaits” and “Beach Babe.”
I had Beach Babe on my toes for my sisters wedding. These are the perfect colours for Summer and I’m holding onto that before it’s time to move into darker shades for Autumn and Winter.
Copious amounts of tea – normal and vanilla or a glass or 2 of wine – depends on the time and the mood.
Eating wise, I’ll snack on seed crackers and cheese or Woolies chicken liver paté, roasted nuts or a little bit of fruit if I want something sweet.
Current favourite candle?
I adore candles… I have this 3 candle set on our coffee table and I light them almost every night.
Any Vanilla candles (are you surprised) and the Yankee candles I’ve received as gifts.
Do you ever have outdoor me-time?
I love walking on the promenade – it’s one of my favourite things about Cape Town. I’ll walk it on my own or with a friend. I absolutely adore being out in nature and if I’m particularly stressed, the only thing that gets me calm and re-grouped, is by being in nature.
I’ll sit on the beach, feel the beach sand between my toes, breathe the salty air in deeply and watch the ocean. It’s completely rejuvenating for me.

Anything to add? What else do you do on me-time?
Me-time should be something that brings you great joy and isn’t a chore or completing a to-do list. It doesn’t have to be something that is chilled or vegetating. I also love to do photography or take a drive to some place new and explore. Doing a Sweat 1000 or Pilates class for an hour is amazing me-time too and I get to focus on my body.
