Every day should be spent with girlfriends who make you laugh so much you snort. Yes. I said it.

If you can add Watermelon Crush cocktails (I’m holding on to Summer with both hands, can you tell?) into the mix… even better.

I kinda love that my day ended at 9am and I could become a lady of leisure. OK, not quite, but hey.

After a few meetings and voice overs, it was time to meet Karolina, Jacqui and Kara-Leigh for a lunch…

We ate Tapas, drank cocktails and wine spritzers and caught up on life, love and laughter.

Today is Freedom Day. Freedom Day is an annual celebration of South Africa’s first non-racial democratic elections of 1994. Peace, unity, the preservation and the restoration of human dignity hallmarks Freedom Day celebrations on the 27th of April of each year.

17 years ago, I was 11 years old and I really didn’t understand what was going on. My family raised me to love people for who they are, not what they look like or what they do or what their status is.

I am so grateful for the the fact that my parents instilled love and compassion and equality. Even though I didn’t understand what was happening in 1994, it doesn’t mean I don’t understand today what it means for us as South Africans.

Today is a reminder that with Freedom, comes responsibility… We need to instil the beautiful qualities of our country to the people around them – especially the countries children. It’s not up to other people. It’s up to each and every one of us.

We need to continue to work to eradicate poverty, racial inequalities and socio-economic disparities

So with that Happy Freedom Day… I am a proud South African
