Easter came pretty quickly this year but it’s also earlier than usual, so that’s why it feels like 2016 is whizzing by already.
My Bachelorette Parties x2, my wedding and honeymoon meant that I wasn’t exactly 100% strict with my LCHF and sugar free lifestyle.
I have been feeling terrible! I’ve been sick with terrible sinus and a chest infection (something I haven’t been in 2 years), bloated and podgy, inflamed, lethargic and full of migraine headaches again. I’ve been desperate to get back into my lifestyle that just makes me feel so energised and healthy. Of course all the excuses came back and all the cravings. Once I had sugar in my body; I just wanted more and more of it even though it was making me feel awful. There is never going to be a good time to start – hello, it’s Easter – with Easter eggs galore. It will always be someones birthday or some celebration – some excuse.
I’m back to my calendar and gold stars situation and am proud to say that I didn’t have one easter egg. Even I’m a little shocked! Haha!
I choose to feel healthy and energised and I know that when I eat the wrong food it makes me feel terrible – it also creates a vicious cycle and if I’m honest with you, but more importantly myself, I have struggled to get back into eating the way that makes me feel good. It’s the damn sugar – it really is the devil and haves you craving all the wrong things!
It feels good and victorious to have gotten through Easter!
Greek Easter is only being celebrated in 4 weeks time, but it was lovely to celebrate my Easter with Sox and his family. We did a Sunday Braai of:
Home made chicken kebabsRoasted vegetablesA green Greek salad and freshly made tzatsikiTo finish off the meal, we sliced up a dessert made by my mom in law. A sugar free, low carb roulade – using xylitol, egg and cacao and cream. I’ll have to get the recipe and share it with you.If any of you reading lead a sugar free lifestyle, how do you cope with Easter? I’d love to know!

March 29, 2016 at 12:32 pmMy mom is the devil. She stashes a couple of boxes of those chocolate covered marshmallow eggs in the freezer. And every single time we go camping, Easter or not, at least one box comes along. She offers it to me (because that’s what mom’s do – I have made peace with that), and I cannot resist(- those sugar demons are a persistent lot), so I take one and tell myself that that is it! But before I know it I have a pocket full of wrappers and the cycle of self-hatred starts again.
Thankfully this time mom forgot to pack those darn eggs! Yay! we’re all saved!!!
Or not. It was my nephews first birthday on Saturday and there was cake and my Aunt Joey’s Peppermint crisp tart, so that ended well *sigh*.
But I soldier on! Got my hair cut this morning, gave myself a pep talk and set some new goals for the coming month and 9 hours in, I am happy to report that it is going well so far!

March 29, 2016 at 2:30 pmI Started a new eating plan 2 weeks ago which does not allow for any cheats, so when Easter came round I had to decide, start the eating plan from scratch or just be good! Made it through without a hitch. Even my kiddies had a “light” Easter. In fact we still have half of the one box of marshmallow eggs we bought. But, I’d eat those home made kebabs in a heart beat!

March 29, 2016 at 2:30 pmCan proudly report that I have not had one easter egg (yet). Although, I have to admit, it’s not because I’m cutting sugar or anything like that. More like, I wait for the easter eggs to go on sale, and then pig out LOL
Luckily don’t have kids, so don’t have to cater for them. I just think the easter eggs were ridiculously expensive this year so decided to wait until after.

March 31, 2016 at 6:29 amBails the banting brownies did the trick.. to die for and sweet enough to kick the chocolate without batting an eyelid.. you also need to try the fat head pizza.. it’s a gazillion times better than the cauliflower one – banting or not I will choose that pizza over the normal anyday!

April 1, 2016 at 6:54 amFat head pizza… pizza Base made with just 1/2 cup grated white cheddar plus 1 cup grated mozzarella plus 45ml cream cheese plus 2/3 cup almond flour plus an egg and 15ml baking powder… put all the cheese in a bowl… microwave for 2mins… then mix in all the rest of the ingredients… once all mixed simply roll it out onto a baking tray or pizza tray (bout 5mm thick) that u’very lined with baking paper… pop it in the oven for 6mons at 200 degrees (or til golden)… u have ur Base… then add ur already cooked toppings (must be cooked Coz the Base will burn if in for too long) or any toppings of ur choice and pop back in the oven to finish it off… DEVINE… will try post a pic of the recipe and tag u
