Celebrating Dimitra’s Birthday

Yesterday we celebrated my Mother in Law (MIL) Dimitra’s birthday!

George has been waking up earlier than usual for the past 3 weeks or so. It’s killing me a little. I used to think: Argh, 06h30 in the morning. Noooo. Now I’d find a 06h30 wakeup heavenly. Much better than anything between 05h00 and 05h45. Admittedly, I don’t get him straight away. He calls for me, but it’s not a desperate call or cry. He just sort of plays and sings and baby talks in his cot. I’m still awake though.

Each night, when I put him to bed I tell him the time I’d like him to wake up. Ha! I’m still hopeful that this is just a phase.

The reason for this is my Sunday morning started at 05h45. I staggered through with a fresh bottle and got him at 06h15.

We had a fun morning of breakfast – his fun being: why use a spoon for my blueberry yoghurt, when I can put my entire hand into the punnet and proceed to squish my hands together, while being delighted at the “fart” sounds happening; playing and having a lovely 2 hour nap (I used the time to do show prep.)

Sox went to fetch his Mom for her birthday. She arrived just as George had woken up and the look on his face as he saw his Yiayia* arrive was too precious. She is his favourite person and his face lights up whenever she’s around.

*Yiayia, is Grandmother in Greek. Pronounced Ya-ya (like Gaga.)

We gave her her gifts…

Sox is so sweet… look how he wrote the card from Georgie… Yiorgaki = little George in Greek.

Sox had the I <3 Yiayia tee shirt made in Greece – a few sizes bigger, which actually looks adorable on him now. Off we went for lunch at VIXI Social House, Bree street. It’s fast becoming one of my favourite restaurants. The food is outstanding, the staff are so friendly and absolutely wonderful with George! It’s such a win!

George is a big fan of their babyccino’s… His little milk moustache’s are adorable. The food is outstanding… Crumbed Aubergine starterDimitra and I both had the most delicious prawns (a really healthy portion) and braised greens.Sox had an impressive plate of steak, chops, braised greens and turmeric cauliflower.

George really is the star of the show, no matter where we go. It humbles me to see how he is always this beacon of light and happiness that draw people in.

The staff here are absolutely incredible and being able to have a meal that doesn’t go cold, because they’re entertaining him while I eat quickly is Mama Gold!

We went back to my MIL for tea and Banting Baked Cheesecake… When Dimitra brought it out I teased her and asked if she had a mouse problem…

She laughed and said: Yes, me! I was tasting to check it was OK. She then put a tea light candle strategically over it. It was very cute.

Dimitra, happy birthday! I feel incredibly lucky to have you as my MIL. You have so much love and you’re so beautifully selfless, it’s inspiring. Thank you for being such a wonderful Mother in Law. I hope you have many, many more birthdays!

Beautiful post, and beautiful photographs. The colors in the pics are so vivid & warm, please may I ask what filter you apply to your pics. Your child is truly gorgeous, such a good looking little boy, and you dress him so well. Lovely family you have.

Thanks so much Romy! I use Lightroom Mobile to edit my photos and have bought various presets which I apply onto the pics.
