It’s not often that I’m rendered speechless, but I was last Saturday 09/11/2019.  I felt so emotional as I walked into my dear friend, Laura’s home. At 35 weeks pregnant it was more than just pregnancy hormones 😉 She threw me the most magnificent baby shower and I am so grateful!

She also shared that so many of my friends and my Mother in Law, Dimitra had offered their help too from baking and making all the food, to the decor and all the little details. That made me extra emotional to know that I have the most incredible group of women in my life. Laura, Kim, Natalie, Sally, Dani, Noni, Georgina and Dimitra, THANK YOU. Those two words just don’t feel like they’re enough, but I am so thankful to each of you.

When Laura and I were chatting about the baby shower, she asked what theme I’d like and all I knew was that I wanted something simple, elegant and with very natural greenery.

I did joke with her that I wanted golden arches and Egyptian Geese to walk around. She sent me back a picture of McDonalds – saying “these kinds of golden arches?” We had such a laugh.

Besides knowing the date and having a small chat about theme, I didn’t know about anything else. I was absolutely blown away to see all the attention to detail, the beautiful decor and the most unbelievable feast laid out.

Cape Town has had really strange, four-seasons-in-a-day weather, but mostly overcast. On Saturday, it was blue skies, sunshine and a perfect Summers Day! It was so special to have the sun shine on Baby G2!

Tegan came to capture the beautiful day and I’ll let the pictures do the talking – with a few stories in between.I did feel really pretty on the day, considering I’m 35 and a half weeks pregnant here and feeling really heavy, uncomfortable and sore. 

Christian is a very good friend of mine (my GBFF) and he flew in especially for the baby shower – I really appreciate the amazing effort. You made me feel so special.  Laura did a quick video call with my Mom and Dad up in Johannesburg and I did a video call with my sister and BIL in London.

I had my digital Instax S10 Camera there and everyone took instant pics and wrote in a little book.

Oh Baby G2, you are already loved so fiercely and we all can’t wait to meet you!
